Attentive and helpful staff, service was quick,(both for drinks as well as food) meal was well cooked. We had the mixed grill. Everything was well cooked, the steak very slightly overcooked,( I asked for medium, I would say it was medium-well) but tender and juicy. All very tasty. The sweet potato chips were excellent! Compared to the mixed grill we'd had elsewhere the previous evening this place won hands down.
Food was great - especially the chicken and ribs. Restaurant atmosphere was relaxed, lovely staff and welcoming of families. Not the cheapest but still just about hit value for money *****

Well... Where to start? Perfectly air conditioned as advertised, excellent modern Indian music and beautifully authentic choice of decor. But who really cares about that? Its the food you want to know about! The food itself was superbly presented and tasted as if someone threw me into the heart of India with all of the wonderful flavours they have to offer. Real care went into creating the food and I was sad to have finished eating. The staff were delightfully pleasant and quick to serve. It was a little shame they didn't spend more time at the table for me to scream how much I was enjoying my visit at them. The price? Well it was unimaginably cheap, I absolutely feel like the experience was worth at least double the price. I will absolutely go back and bring everyone I know. 11/10
A lovely and small Indian restaurant in Rumney. The staff was very pleasant and the service was quick. The menu is quite big with a solid selection of vegetarian dishes as well. The food was delicious and the portions were big. I've been to Spice Island a few times now and I shall come back in the future.

Disappointed. Here on business. Got here at 2030 appreciate its not early. No Chicken. No streak. No Fish. Guess it's ribs then. The place looked shabby and needed a good clean, looked more like a post apocalyptic buffet frenzy. Bad choice and won't be back. Wish I stayed and ate in the hotel . Staff were friendly and polite which is why I rated it 3 stars.
I visited here with my husband the night before he was travelling. The service on arrival was a little slow and we stood waiting for 5 minutes before we saw anyone to help put us in a seat. The steak we wanted was sold out (good sign) but the replacement steak was still yummy. The service was great and the food arrived fairly quickly - the steak had been rested which is always a good think. I would have preferred more pepper sauce. The salad bar was okay- the onions didnt seem that fresh. The rest of the salad was fine.
